Arrowhead.jpg

arrowhead

The sculpture is a second-generation representation of a Native American arrowhead that has symbolic significance to my brother and his wife. The couple discovered an arrowhead during an outdoor excursion early in their relationship. Years later, the arrowhead is a talisman of love and commitment between the two. I found it intriguing that a small and ancient tool would, hundreds of later, become a symbol of their unity.

Baby with ball

This is another sculpture in my series of figures interacting with one of the most basic and universal of objects — a ball. In this piece, I created the ball to be an extension of the figure’s outward facial expression. The roundness of the eyes and mouth are to suggest kindness of open generosity.

This motley looking crew represents the deeper, darker voices of the psyche. Fear, guilt, shame, and sorrow present themselves as a cast of subconscious echoes, haunting and taunting our desires. I wanted these figures to appear also sympathetic, so that in recognizing/understanding them, we can psychologically embrace them as part of the moving forward process.
